Tips for Analysts fulfilling the role of Product Owner
If you're an Analyst and you're fulfilling the role of Product Owner on an agile team, focus on:- 'The What' - what does the business need.
- 'The Why' - why is it valuable to the business and how much value does it have.
- 'The When' - prioritise it by the value to the business.

I would generalise to just deferring decisions to expertise and experience but I would be wary of a Product Owner that did not want to increase his/her knowledge of how.
At least, the Product Owner should have a very close interaction with the technical leader(s).
